If you have been a longtime reader, then you know that my blog has been quite the mess. The posting was inconsistent, nothing was ever related and I just kept talking about whatever I felt like talking about that day. One week I would talk about the video game I was playing and the next I was reviewing a book.
Now, after taking an incredibly well-deserved (that’s what I tell myself to make myself feel less lazy) break for the last few months, I now have a clear vision of what I would like my blog to become. I’ve settled on my top three things that I like to talk about (one being myself), and I will be making those the sole categories on this website. All three topics are particularly broad, so I should hopefully have plenty to talk about each week.
You may be asking, Liza what are these topics? Well, my dear reader, that is exactly what I am going to explain in this blog post. Without further delay, here is how I decided on my blog’s niche.
There I was, sitting on the couch for the 20th day in a row, the cartons of non-dairy ice cream piling up in a rather impressive stack when everything seemed to fall into place on my lap. Suddenly I could see everything clearly, and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my blog.
That last part was a lie. It took quite a bit of thinking and impromptu dance parties, but at the very end I had finally settled on three topics:
Each topic is something that I love to write about, and each one has a variety of things that I can branch off on in order to keep things interesting for myself. After all, it is difficult to write something if it isn’t something you like to write about. If I don’t have any passion for it then my work is lackluster at best, so that is why I have given myself plenty of things that I love to write about.
I love to read. I’m sure that is obvious from the moment you look through old blog posts, so of course, this topic will remain one of the main focal points on my website. I already have a list of upcoming books that I plan to do reviews on and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share my thoughts on books with you.
This category will also have some writing tips and such sprinkled in throughout the months to come, so it won’t all be book reviews.
This one is a very loaded category. As someone who struggles with anxiety and depression, I would like to use this category to discuss various things that I face on a regular basis for the benefit of others going through the same things. I would also like to use this category to update everyone on what I experience as a freelance writer and give everyone the inside scoop on what I am experiencing while I write my current novel.
As you can plainly see at the top of my website, the name is Lily and Liza. I haven’t done much about Lily on this website, and with the new year, I would like to change that. She plays a big role in this website as my emotional support animal and furry sidekick, so I feel she deserves a bit more attention. Right now that will just be something once a month that is centered around her, but hopefully, I will be able to make those Lily segments more often.
Other than that there will be small changes here and there to polish up the site. I’m excited to see what this new year will bring to me, and I can’t wait to share it all with you!
